Pantone Color of The Year 2016

Happy New Year Folks!! I hope everyone had a great Christmas season and wonderful start to this promising year. We did have a busy time with family, friends and parties, and we also managed to start work on our upstairs washroom. Will post progress pics soon but be warned they are ugly pics - D stripped the washroom down to studs, layers of rotting floors and insulation. Watch this space !

I thought I would share with you the Pantone Color of the Year and they are the beautiful Rose Quartz and Serenity.

I love a good challenge and if you want me to use these two colors in a room then by jove we are going to make that work. Rose Quartz is a beautiful soft pink more suited to bedrooms and powder rooms. I would use accents of pink in an all white room and combine that with gold touches. The trio of White, Pink and Gold is a very successful color scheme that was seen all over Instagram last year. BTW are you following us on Instagram because you should ! Its where I post daily design tips, project progress pics and other creative shtuff !
Serenity is a more cool blue and that can be a very nice, calming color for a bedroom. It is also lovely when paired with grey or in accents. Think cream room with a blue rug (which is exactly what I am working on right now for a client) or consider bringing in the colors with a piece of art. Abstract Art is big on trend right now and an easy way for you to bring color to your walls.
When embarking on painting your room try the test posts first giving yourself time to adjust to the color and letting you see the color at different times of the day. You have to like the color as if it were a part of your personality. Not everyone will go for these colors. Me - I am more of a burnt orange kinda gurl ! You ? ?
Here are a few rooms I found on Pinterest to give you a better idea on how to use the colors. Pantone picks great colors as last year I was a huge fan of 2015s Marsala which is this deep red / plum color which looked great in textured fabrics like fur and velvet.

This lovely kitchen belongs to a fellow Canadian Christine Dovey of blog Bijou & Boheme, been a fan of her style for long now. This pretty chandelier in pink glass just makes me swoon.
This room spotted on Casa Vogue is a nice understated space with pops of pink. Love the cable drum as coffee table idea.
Love that the colors have been kept muted and that botanical print at the back makes me weak at the knees. Found on Style Caster.
